Maa Tara

Maa Tara

“Aum matorneelsaraswati, pranamatang soubhagyasampadaprade”

The second of Dasamahavidyas, Maa Tara is worshipped as ‘Ekajata’, ‘Ugratara’and ‘Neelsaraswati’ in our temple. One of the fiercest forms of Devi, our divine mother has a blue skin tone.

Adorned with a Lotus, Karoti, Kharaga and a Sword on her hands, she wears the tiger skin and snake adornments on her hands and waist. Here Maa is seen standing on Shiva and her Bhairava is 'Akshobya Bhairava'. The sanctum sanctorum of our divine mother holds the eternal fire from Kashi’s
Manikarnika Ghat.

Yogiraj Paresh Chandra Roy Moulik and Yogmata Anjali Roy Moulik consecrated Maa Tara’s idol through tantra puja in the year 1958. The sanctum sanctorum of our mother goddess also holds the ‘navamundi asana’, a rarity of its kind. Yogiraj and Yogmata used the navamundi asana to offer their sadhanas to Maa Tara. Maa is offered tantra puja everyday at Tarashankari Peeth till date.

Maa Tara’s daily aarti is held at 7 PM.
